In Focus: How to Focus and Be More Productive

What's the first thing you do when your phone beeps or buzzes? You check it, don't you? You check it to see who sent you the message, even though you'll probably just end up getting another notification five minutes later. Or maybe you're trying to play a game, and an ad keeps popping up, so you can't concentrate on what you're doing. You may need to finish that project, but Facebook keeps tempting you with new updates, memes, or photos from family or friends.

The Problem With Distractions

Distractions kill our productivity and cause colossal burnout. The solution is turning off all notifications so you can stay in focus, increase your peace of mind, and avoid distractions altogether.

Notifications are distracting and make it hard to stay in focus. Our attention span is becoming shorter because we get used to distractions everywhere, like websites or apps that send us notifications without mercy. Because these constant alerts harm our health, having zero or one alarm (such as an old-fashioned clock) is ideal. You'll instantly notice how productive you are when there are no unnecessary alarms—keeping only one ensures minimal distraction at work or home. Staying productive also involves making better decisions on which apps deserve your time—and they're not many!

Turning Off Notifications

Once you have all your notifications disabled, it's time to stay on track. Here are some tips for staying in focus when you're distracted by notifications, messages, or games:

- Take a break from the screens for at least 30 minutes every hour. This is crucial for staying healthy and focused on what's important.

- Set an alarm that goes off every two hours that reminds you to take a break. If you don't want to do this, try turning off your phone, so it doesn't bother you with distracting notifications. The last thing we want is to fear constantly missing out on something because of distractions! That's why we need to be more focused and less distracted to get our work done faster and find peace of mind again.

The Benefits of Being More Productive

In addition to the benefits of being more productive, such as finishing all tasks on time, spending more time with the family, or finally getting caught up on your reading list. There are also less tangible benefits of being more focused that you may not have thought about. For instance, it can increase your peace of mind knowing that you're not constantly distracted by messages or games. Being in focus can also improve your relationships with co-workers because they don't feel like they're competing for your attention all the time.

Ways to Increase Productivity

Some solutions for eliminating distractions are to turn off notifications, resist social media temptations, and automate time-consuming tasks. Doing these things gives you more energy for your work that's directly in focus.

Plan your day, use Pomodoro Technique, and create a working routine. Below are a few ways you can learn how to stay in focus.

1) Plan your day by setting aside time for the things you want to do.

2) Use Pomodoro Technique, which involves working in 25-minute bursts with 5-minute breaks between sessions.

3) Create a routine of working at specific times and sticking with it on days when you feel most productive.
